In December 2024, the Town of Lyndon was awarded a MERP grant in the amount of $499,730 through the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS). The funds will be used to take energy conservation measures in five municipally-owned buildings\u2014the Municipal Office Building, the Cobleigh Public Library, the Town Garage, the Public Safety Building, and the Fenton-Chester Arena.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Each building project will include aspects of improving the building envelope, (insulation\/weatherization), fuel switching, and\/or HVAC\/Renewable energy heating systems to increase energy savings and improve the comfort level of occupants in these buildings. Lighting upgrades to high impact LED lighting will also improve the energy efficiency of the buildings. According to Level 1 and Level 2 Energy assessments that were conducted on the five buildings in previous years, the Town could save an estimated $31,000 in utilities each year.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Project Request for Proposals (RFPs) were posted in April, due the end of May. Proposals were reviewed by the selection committee in June and Ruggco Inc. Construction Services was chosen as the Project Management company to work with the Town on this project.
